COLORADO BLUE SPRUCE
(Piecea pungens glauca) GR – slow to medium HT – 100’ Dense – green to silver blue Native Idaho to Colorado
Colorado blue spruce make superb landscaping trees in this area. Needles are 1”- 1 ½” long, four sided with a very sharp point making it deer resistant. Cones are 2”- 4” long and stay on trees for one to two years. These trees can live for six to eight hundred years.
Christmas trees: They hold their needles best of any spruce and have attractive foliage on stiff branches. Animals and children do not like the sharp needles.
